Replacing the headlights in your vehicle is easy to do. No matter what type of new vehicle you may have, learn how to change your headlights from Massey Hyundai.
Step 1: Gather your tools.
You will need a few items in order to properly change your light bulb. This will include a new light bulb, alcohol wipes and tissues, and a Phillips screwdriver. Once you have these, you can begin.
Step 2: Locate the headlight holder.
You will need to access your headlight bulb through your engine compartment. To do this, open the hood of your vehicle and locate the headlight. Note it will be near the front of the vehicle inside a bulb holder that has a power connector.
Step 3: Remove the wires.
The power connector will usually have three wires attached. These are held in by a plastic catch, metal clip, or screw cap. If your vehicle has a plastic catch, push down on the small level at the top and pull the plug out. If it has a metal clip, pull it up and away. If it’s a screw cap, unscrew it by turning it counter-clockwise.
Step 4: Remove the old bulb.
After you have disconnected the wires, remove the back of the headlight holder and remove the bulb.
Step 5: Install new bulb.
Be sure to wipe the new bulb with an alcohol wipe and handle it with a tissue so you don’t get oils from your hands on it. Place the new bulb into the base of the plug. Once in, put the holder back into place and plug the power wires back in.
Step 6: Test it out.
To ensure you did the job correctly, be sure to test the light by turning your headlights on. If it’s not working properly, repeat the steps.
