When it comes to getting crisp visibility when on the Hagerstown and Winchester roads, it’s a smart idea to choose LED headlights. However, if you’re driving an older vehicle with no interest in buying a new car, you likely have halogen bulbs inside your vehicle. This is normal.
What you may not realize is that you can easily swap out your traditional halogen bulbs for new LED headlights that offer better visibility and crisp light. Take a look below to learn how.
Buy an LED headlight kit.
You can purchase an LED headlight kit from any auto parts store. Buying a kit will ensure you have everything you need to get the job done properly.
Remove old halogen bulb.
Before you can install a new LED headlight, you need to first remove the old halogen bulb. You can do this by opening the hood of your vehicle and disconnecting the light from the light housing.
Insert new LED bulb.
The new LED bulb will go where the old halogen light was. You will first need to plug in the donut into the housing to ensure it fits properly. Once that is done, place the bulb into the housing and then turn to the right until you hear a click. This keeps it secure.
Secure shoelace housing.
Because LED lights produce more heat than halogen bulbs, LED headlights come with shoelace heat sinks attached to one end. This helps the heat dissipate instead of being trapped in your engine. You will need to stuff this housing into the boot and place it securely inside the hood of the car. You may need to keep working at this until you can find the right fit.
Plug in the power.
After you have secured the bulb and the heat sinks, plug in the LED headlights to the vehicle’s power source. That’s it.
